Saguaro National Park

In December 2020 we spent out Christmas vacation seeing some sights in Arizona. I have always wanted to visit Saguaro National Park, so we made it a priority for this staycation. It did not disappoint.

I really just could not get enough of the scenery…

There are several trails through the area, so we did some hiking.

And the details up close were interesting too…

Horseshoe Bend

After Christmas in 2021 we took a trip to Page, Arizona where we made sure to see Horseshoe Bend and the Glen Canyon Dam (they are very close to one another).

From cliff side to the water is approximately 1,000 feet.

The drive from Phoenix, Arizona to Horseshoe Bend is about four and a half hours. It is $10 to park in the lot but the scenic view is free. From the parking lot to the viewing area is around a quarter mile and might be difficult for some travelers due to the terrain.

Glen Canyon Dam is the modern marvel that holds back the water that makes up Lake Powell. The dam generates approximately five billion kilowatt-hours of electricity annually and is distributed to Wyoming, Utah, Colorado, New Mexico, Nevada, Nebraska, and Arizona.
